Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is instructional division?

Instructional division is for K-1 for boys and K-2 for girls.  In this division basic skills are taught to help get the players started in the sport.  The division meets one day a week (typically Saturday mornings) for about an hour and there are no practices during the week.  The first few weeks incorporate basic skills like dribbling, passing and shooting.  After a few weeks, the practices are split into one half practice and one half scrimmages with other teams.

When are games played?

(Lower through Upper divisions)

Most of the games are played on Saturdays.  Some weeknight games will also be scheduled throughout the season as needed.  In the event of snow days or other school closings, games are made up during weeknights.

(Instructional Division)

In the past, our instructional division has had sessions on Saturday mornings.  There are no practices during the week.  We are expecting that this will be the case again this year depending on number of sign ups and gym availability.

Where are games played?

(Lower through Upper divisions)

Most games are played at Susan B. Anthony Elementary school.  They can also be played at Veterans Middle School based on gym availability.

(Bitty Division)

To be determined based on gym availability.

When should I expect to hear from someone after I register?

Due to gym availability, player evaluations will not take place until after Fall recess.  (Please keep an eye out for an email letting you know when evaluations will take place.)  Teams will be picked after evaluations are completed and you should hear from your child's coach by late November / early December.

What are evaluations?

Players will come to a session at the gym where their basic skills will be evaluated.  (Dribbling, Shooting, Passing, etc)  These evaluations take place in an effort to help produce teams that are balanced and fair.

When are practices?

(Lower through Upper divisions)

Practices are scheduled during weeknights and are based on gym and coach’s availability.  Practices can fall anywhere from 6 p.m. until around 9:30 p.m. with the younger divisions usually having the earlier available times.  Practices will be 1 – 2 times per week.

(Bitty Division)

The Bitty division meets for one session per week.  There are no practices during the week.

Where are practices held?

(Lower through Upper divisions)

Practices can be held at any of the local schools with a gym.

Why I Haven't heard from my coach?

Please be sure to download the Sports Engine app.  This is where all team communications take place as well as scheduling.  If you don't have the app, it may explain why you haven't heard anything.

When do practices and games start?

(Lower through Upper divisions)

Practices usually begin in late November to early December.  Games will likely begin in January but are still to be determined.

(Instructional - Bitty Division)

Bitty sessions begin in January.
